Aldi and Tesco are urgently recalling popular breakfast food over health risks: here are the affected products

Tesco and Aldiare recalling a number of popular items and urge customers not to eat them if they have already purchased the products.

Consuming these foods can be dangerous or even lethal for people who suffer from food allergies.

What products is Tesco recalling?

The Food Standards Agencysent out an allergy alert, saying Tesco would be recalling its Free From Bran Flakes after some packets were found to contain another cereal - Chocolate Pillows. The latter - another popular Tescobreakfast treat - contains milk and hazelnuts not listed on the boxes of bran flakes.

The items pose a threat to anyone with dairy or nut allergies.

The recall concerns 300g packets with a best-before date of 26 May 2024.

Customers have been urged to return the product to their nearest Tesco store where they can receive a full refund. They will not be required to provide a receipt or proof of purchase.

The Food Standards Agency explained:

Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product which means it should not be sold.

Then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).

What products is Aldi recalling?

Aldi has issued an urgent recall of Harvest Morn High Protein Bars due to the ingredients such as milk, peanuts and soya not having been emphasised in bold on the packaging.

There is a risk that customers with allergies may not clearly see them.

The product flavours being taken off the shelves are Birthday Cake, Cookie Dough, Salted Caramel, Peanut Butter, Protein Mint, Jaffa Orange, Peanut Butter and Cookie Dough.

In a statement, Aldi wrote:

As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling Harvest Morn High Protein Bars because in some cases allergens are not emphasised in bold on the packaging.

Anyone who has bought this product and suffers from an allergy or intolerance to the ingredients listed should return it to any Aldi store for a full refund.

The supermarket chain apologised for any inconvenience caused.
