King Charles and Prince Andrew didn’t always have a strained relationship, here’s what we know

Many people and Roayl experts believe that Princes Andrew and Harry are one of the most significant threats to the monarchy at the moment. While Prince Harry may have allegedly decided to stop the Royal bashing, Prince Andrew’s ‘scandalous’ past still has a lingering effect on the Royals, the Duke’s life and his bond with elder brother King Charles.

King Charles and Prince Andrew’s early years of friendship

It is understood that despite the age gap between the two brothers, they were pretty close while in their early years. Prince Andrew often made public appearances with King Charles while they were growing up to represent the monarchy and carry our official Royal duties. The two often attended state visits, royal weddings, and charity events where they showcased a united front to the world.

The two brothers - who are drastically different in personalities - didn’t let their bond get affected even when they went on to lead different adult lives. Andrew, who was more outgoing and fun-loving pursued a career in the Royal Navy and Charles, being the heir of the throne, went on to take more of Royal duties.

When then Prince Charles got married to Princess Diana, he insisted that Prince Andrew travel in the coach to St Paul's cathedral to the wedding and be his best man. Even after King Charles first marriage, Prince Andrew spent a lot of time with him and Diana - who also introduced Andrew to Sarah Ferguson.

The two couples were often seen out in public seemingly having a great time. It showed the close bond King Charles and Prince Andrew had between them.

What went wrong between Prince Andrew and King Charles?

Considering their close bonds in the early years, it’s surprising to see the brothers have the kind of relationship they have today. It all started with Prince Andrew’s divorce. Reportedly, King Charles became ‘increasingly frustrated as allegations against Andrew were splashed across international newspapers.’

Small scandals relating to Prince Andrew that emerged over the years further added fuel to the fire. The Duke’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein became the biggest turning point of his life and his relationship with King Charles.

Things have never been the same for Prince Andrew ever since Virginia Giuffre scandal became public knowledge and his alleged out of the court settlement with her. The furture of the two brothers’ relationship is also ‘tricky.’ Royal Expert Richard Palmer claims:

It's a tricky issue. At the root of it all is what Andrew is going to do for the rest of his life, what should be done with it.

Personally, I think there is no room for him in public life, and if he gets into something controversial finance-wise it will reflect badly on the Royal Family.
