Prince Andrew could remain at Royal Lodge as he reportedly can't afford Frogmore Cottage

Tensions between King Charles and Prince Andrew have been bubbling since Prince Andrew’s sex abuse case. Media has suggested that Charles pushed Queen Elizabeth to strip Prince Andrew of his Royal titles and patronages and remove him from public life.

Since becoming King, Charles has been doing a lot to keep his brother at bay. It is believed that he plans to cut Prince Andrew’s yearly allowance, he has kicked him out of Buckingham Palace and he can no longer use it to sign official documents.

Prince Andrew was supposed to move to Frogmore Cottage
After King Charles evicted Prince Harry and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage, it was thought that the keys would be given to Prince Andrew. The reason the Duke of York was supposed to move residence is the fact that King Charles reportedly plans to cut the money he gives to Prince Andrew, forcing him to move as he would seemingly no longer be able to afford to live at Royal Lodge.

Indeed the rent for Prince Harry’s former home is estimated to be £360,000 a year. So if King Charles has really cut down his brother’s yearly income, it seems he definitely won’t be able to live at Frogmore.

King Charles won’t benefit if Prince Andrew moves
Kicking the Duke of York out of Royal Lodge may not be the best thing King Charles could do. Indeed when Prince Andrew moved into Royal Lodge, he signed a 75-year lease. This means that if Prince Andrew were to be kicked out by King Charles, the latter would have to pay to end the lease.

Moreover, if Prince Andrew’s lease were to be terminated, The Crown, which owns Royal Lodge, would have to pay the Duke back for the money he spent on any repairs he did to the Royal household, which has strict rules that must be followed.
