The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms and has warned that a month’s worth of rain could fall in certain parts of the country.

As reported by The Independent, major cities including Bristol, Cardiff and Swansea are under a yellow weather alert as thunderstorms are set to hit the southwest of the UK. According to forecasters, there is a ‘small risk’ that homes and businesses could be damaged due to quick flooding, caused by the ‘torrential downpours’.
The southwest of England and the south of Wales could see up to 70mm of rain to fall within a few hours. The average rainfall for the month of September is 92.45mm.

Some could be at risk of power cuts
There could also be a small risk that buildings could be damaged by lightning, hail or strong winds as well as floodwater. The Met Office also warned that there could be a ‘small chance’ of power cuts for some homes and businesses due to potential floodwater.
