Ryanair issues warning for Brits flying to Spain, here's how your travel could be affected

September is back-to-school season but many take the opportunity of the calmer month to finally take their post-summer holidays. However, travellers who are flying to and from Spain may not have a great start to their trip as Ryanair has just issued a warning over bad weather conditions. This is not the first weather warning issued this month.

On 14 September, a spokesperson for Ryanair alerted passengers that they could face potential delays of their flight as thunderstorms have hit the country once again. They said in a statement, as quoted by the Express:

Some potential delays to/from Spain today (Thursday, September 14) due to thunderstorms.

Which Spanish regions have been affected?

As reported by Express, weather warnings have been issued in various regions across the European country. Here are the regions that have warnings for rainfall and storm:

• Tarragona
• Valencia
• Alicante
• Castellon

And here are the regions where yellow weather warnings have been issued for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms:

• Majorca
• Madrid
• Segovia

Brits travelling to these popular destinations may see a delay in their flight and will be notified of any changes in schedule. Ryanair also advises passengers to:

The weather warning is expected to stay in place on Friday as well, and could potentially be upgraded to amber, however conditions may clear up over the weekend.

Ryanair apologised for any inconvenience saying:

We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by these thunderstorms which are outside of Ryanair’s control and affect all airlines operating to/from Spain today, Thursday, September 14.

Weather warnings in the UK

Spain is not the only country that has been experiencing bad weather as the UK has also been hit with showers since the end of the seven-day heatwave this month.

According to The Independent, the Met Office has confirmed that showers will continue in several parts of the UK but temperatures will also continue to rise in the coming week. Fortunately for everyone, it is not expected to get as hot as it did.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin said:

A combination of the heat building and the jet stream pushing northwards may well trigger some more thunderstorms – a bit like last weekend with the heat coming from the south, we are expecting some big downpours.

It is likely to be very warm in the south, but again not as hot as last weekend, but certainly temperatures will be in their high 20s in places
