Aldi’s surplus food to be available for only £3.30 in trial run with Too Good To Go

As reported by Retail Gazette, the company has now launched an exciting trial run with the anti-food waste app Too Good To Go, set to last for 5 weeks.

The app Too Good To Go has been working with a lot of supermarkets, restaurants and grocery stores to reduce food waste. Often, a lot of food which are still edible and in good condition are discarded just because they are unsold.
More under this adMore under this adAccording to the Too Good To Go website, they let ‘customers buy and collect Magic Bags of this food - at a great price - directly from businesses.’ They state that the company has saved half a million bags of food from going to waste. And Aldi is set to be part of this initiative on a trial basis.
Aldi’s Magic Bags would contain an assortment of items, which the customers would not have any prior information about. According to Retail Gazette, these bags would have a minimum value of £10, and would be made available for £3.30 each. This trial run would be for the next 5 weeks.

Aldi had earlier introduced several new initiatives in their stores, which included price cuts on select products in an attempt to reduce food waste, marking down its dry products like rice and pasta with ‘imperfect packaging’ by 30% and offering up to 75% reductions on perishable products on the last day of life.
