According to Love Food, the first McDonald’s drive-thru opened in 1975 in Sierra Vista, southern Arizona. This has been a standard fixture for cars in many McDonald’s since then. But as reported by Mirror, much to the bemusement of many online, a man rode up to a McDonald’s drive-thru not in his car, but on his horse.

The equestrian who rode a horse to McDonald’s
The rider in question shared a video of his McDonald’s horse ride on his TikTok. His handle is called @theblessedequestrian and the clip is captioned,

The man just rode up to the McDonald’s drive-thru, and made a huge order through the window saying,

He then proceeded to collect his order while seated on his horse and exited.
The short clip has gone viral on TikTok garnering more than 1 million views. The comment section is full of people having a laugh and appreciating this original take on a McDonald’s drive-thru pickup.

Fast-food drive-thru rules
According to American History, drive-thrus first became popular in California around the 1950s when the entire nation and the world were gripped by the mania of cars. It was a simple way for fast-food companies to supply food to their customers without them having to leave the luxury of their cars. Drive-thrus were then introduced around the world, including in the UK.

Luckily, in the case of the horse-rider, he doesn’t seem to have faced any negative consequences for his action.
