On the day of Her Majesty’s death, The Sussex couple was supposed to travel together to Balmoral but instead, Prince Harry went alone. Here’s why!

On September 8, when Buckingham Palace released a statement regarding the Queen’s health, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle immediately cancelled all their plans and announced they will be leaving to see the Queen at Balmoral. However, Meghan backed out at the last minute and only Prince Harry went to see the Queen.

Here’s what actually happened

It may have been a last-minute decision for Meghan to back out from visiting the Queen in her last minutes, but there was a reason behind it. According to The Sun, Prince Harry was strictly told by his father Prince Charles – Now King Charles III – that Meghan would be welcomed at such a crucial time and the affair was only for the close family members.

Prince Harry was the first one to leave Scotland and the last one to arrive there due to everything that happened. A royal source confirmed:

Charles told Harry that it wasn’t right or appropriate for Meghan to be in Balmoral at such a deeply sad time.

It was pointed out to him that Kate was not going and that the numbers really should be limited to the very closest family. Charles made it very, very clear Meghan would not be welcome.

As such, out-of-favour Prince Harry also refused to take the seat on the RAF plane that took his brother and uncles to the Scottish estate.

Poor Prince Harry

After Prince Harry agreed to go alone, he had to find his own plane and the delay made him reach Scotland by 7:52 pm, which was more than one and a half hours after Her Majesty took her last breath.

The next morning, Prince Harry took the first flight out of Aberdeen Airport to Heathrow at 8:20 am and reached back to London. The Sussex couple will now stay in the country until after Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
