The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a beast roaming around freely around their California house that can be a threat to them.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been living in a $14.6 million mansion in Montecito, however, the couple has reportedly been ordered to lock down their mansion. This comes after they were warned about a mountain lion stalking in the neighborhood that could spell disaster for the couple.

Running loose

The mountain lion was spotted on a security camera footage on July 23 in the Sussexes’ neighbourhood, reports MailOnline. It was spotted just five miles away from their house where they live with three-year-old Archie and one-year-old Lilibet.

It is believed that the big cat might have wandered off to the inhabited area in search of food or water as California is being hit by drought. What makes things more dangerous for the couple is their chicken coop which can be an easy target for the beast. The executive director of Montecito Association, Sharon Byrne, confirmed:

That part of Montecito is a very rural, very mountainous area, the kind of habitat for mountain lions.
So far, all we have is this one sighting.

We want all locals to secure their homes and secure their chicken coops and whatever other animals they may have.

We also urge residents to secure their garbage so animals can go rummaging around for scraps, to have night lighting, alarms, cameras and so on.

Is it fatal?

The last fatal mountain lion mauling in California happened in 2004. A 35-year-old man was killed at the Whiting Ranch Regional Park in Orange County, Los Angeles. Will this one be fatal for anyone? Who knows! But the executive director reassured:

Mountain lions are solitary creatures and ultimately, they don’t want to be around people so we’re hoping this one moves on by itself.
