WhatsApp is finally working again after millions of users face issues

Online message apps have made it a hundred times easier to connect to our friends, family, and colleagues. So, what happens when one of these services go down? Definitely not Armageddon, but it is an inconvenience that many of us do not know how to deal with.

Since this morning thousands, and possibly millions of users around the world, started facing connectivity issues on WhatsApp, a popular messaging app in several countries. According to Sky News, reports started coming in before 8 AM on 25 October.

Users were complaining that while the app was opening, as per normal, they had been seeing 'Connecting...' displayed on top of their screen. Consequently, users were unable to send or receive messages.

Confusion on the internet

The internet has been sent into a frenzy ever since the incident started. WhatsApp is now the number one trending hashtag on social media platform Twitter, with many tweeting about both their frustration and confusion.

A spokesperson for parent company Meta has said, as quoted by Sky News:

We're aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages, and we're working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible.

It is unclear what caused the problem, but it looks like services have slowly been getting restored for some users.
