Vladimir Putin's top commander hospitalised after escaping mysterious assassination attempt

The Russian invasion of Ukraine was anticipated to be completed in just three days, instead, the War is nearing its first year anniversary.

On February 24, 2022, Vladimir Putin unleashed an unprovoked war by commanding his forces to attack Russia’s eastern neighbor.

‘David vs Goliath’

The Russia-Ukraine War has often been described with the biblical story of ‘David vs Goliath’ where David, an underdog human, defeats Goliath, a giant, in single combat.

Russia has thrown vast manpower and resources into the war and it has recorded great losses. Ukraine has conceded great losses as well however its territorial defense has proven remarkable strength and determination.

Besides regular military defense, the Ukrainians have resorted to many forms of resistance, especially in their territories that remain under Russian occupation.

A common feature throughout the war until now has also been the assassination attempts of pro-Russian commanders in eastern Ukraine using car bombs and poisoning.

Poisoning through an envelope

On Monday 13 February, one of Vladimir Putin’s generals, the President of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov said that last week histop military strategist was poisoned after opening an envelope.

Ramzan Kadyrov wrote on his Telegram channel about the assassination attempt, Newsweek reports.

‘Friends, our dear brother ... Apti Alaudinov, was poisoned a few days ago,’

Apti Alaudinov is the commander of the Akhmat special forces, and on February 8 he picked up a letter that contained a substance with a strong smell.

According to Mirror citing Kadyrov, Alaudinov who is also the deputy commander of the People’s Militia 2nd Army Corps stationed in Luhansk, Ukraine, and two aides survived the assassination attempt and are being treated in a hospital in Moscow.

Reportedly, Alaudinov is a frequent guest on Russian state television, where he delivers updates from the battlefield.

Previously Alaudinov had described the Russian invasion of Ukraine as a ‘holy war’ against the ‘Satanic’ values of the West.

Kadyrov confirmed that an investigation is underway and it already provided some results by identifying some of the culprits involved in the ‘assassination attempt’.
