UK issued weather alert as storm could cause flooding and building damage

The weather in the UK this summer has been very hit-and-miss and it is expected to continue as such. As reported by Express, the Met Office has just issued a yellow weather warning for some parts of the UK on Friday, September 1.

Indeed Britain is expected to be hit by heavy rain and thunderstorms once again. The Met Office has predicted that this next bout of bad weather will cause significant disruption and even damage to some parts of the country.

UK under a yellow weather warning

The yellow weather warning was announced at 1 p.m., Friday, September 1 and is set to last until 7 p.m. the same day. The warning is in place for Kent, Essex, Suffolk and heading towards Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

The forecast has predicted 15 flood warnings across England, in parts of Cumbria, Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset. Wales also has been issued flood warnings in the Usk Estuary and Wye Estuary, the Lleyn Peninsula and Cardigan Bay coastline as well as the tidal area of Crofty.

Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and the Ceredigion coast between Clarach and Cardigan have also been issued flood warnings for today, September 1.

The weather may cause disruptions

As the forecast is expected to be terrible, some disruptions have been predicted. Indeed as reported by Express, train services may be delayed as there may be damage to buildings from the lighting strikes.

The Met Office has also warned that there is a ‘good chance’ that driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water as well as a possibility of hail, making journeys longer.
