Brits given major travel warning as rules change for these popular holiday destinations

Since the UK has left the European Union, a lot of new rules have been introduced for British holidaymakers. Indeed for some countries visas will now be required to travel and passport rules have also changed slightly.

As changes in travel are happening regularly, it is important to check all the information before booking so you aren’t met with a nasty surprise at the airport and you find out that you can’t go on holiday.

A new rule will soon be put in place for popular holiday destinations such as Spain and Greece and it is crucial you know about it or you may be denied entry into the country and lose out on money and fun time.

Brits may need to provide additional information to travel

Birmingham Live reports that destinations such as Spain and Greece may now require extra information or documentation from British holidaymakers and even potential interviews with national authorities.

The new European Union travel permit should generally approved in a few minutes, however, officials have warned that in some cases it may take a lot longer.

As a result, British holidaymakers are being urged to wait until they have been approved for travel before booking anything, from flights to hotels and package deals.

When does this new permit come into effect?

In total, British travellers will need an ETIAS in 30 European countries. The new permit will not come into effect until 2024, meaning all holidays in 2023 will be the last where Brits will not need any special request to enter certain European countries.

The ETIAS will also be required by those travelling for business. The permit will allow Brits to enter the 30 countries for up to 90 days in a 180-day period. When entering one of the countries where the permit is needed, you will be asked to provide documents that prove you meet entry conditions.
