The complaint was made to the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination on the grounds that the employees deliberately intended to 'offend, humiliate, and cause distress.' The complaint states:

It is commonly known that Islam forbids Muslims from eating pork. McDonald’s employees willfully added bacon to the complainant’s food in an effort to offend, humiliate, and cause distress to complainant and her young children.

Damages for McDonald's?

The family received the wrong sandwich - with bacon - last year in a McDonald's located in Chicopee, about 143 kilometres from Boston. A lawyer decided to take on this special case. She is a member of CAIR and is reportedly in the process of seeking damages against the brand, as reported by HuffPost.

Alahmar, the mother who was the victim of the wrong order, was wearing a hijab and an 'abaya,' according to the testimony. She reportedly had one of her children repeat her order several times in case they misunderstood her accent.

Later that day, the father returned to the McDonald's establishment to return the half-eaten sandwich, which had not been ordered by the family. He was refunded the purchase price.
