Griffin joined Mediaiteeditor-in-chief Aidan McLaughlin, this week on their Press Club podcast and spoke about how his second term may be filled with ‘rage and retribution.’ Adding to her stance, she revealed an instance where Trump ‘straight up said a staffer who leaked… should be executed.’ This was in reference to an anonymous report that said the former POTUS had gone into a secure bunker at the White House, according to The Guardian. The report came around the time when the racial justice protests were at their peak after a Minneapolis police officer’s murder of George Floyd.
Trump—who recently turned a year older—also spoke about executing people on multiple other occasions. Griffin added:

Rumours of Trump’s interest in summary executions have been making the rounds for years. Even as he gears up for a potential second presidency term in November, he is understood to have asked three people about ‘firing squads.’ The 78-year-old has repeatedly backed ‘expanding the use of the federal death penalty.’ During Trump’s final three months as president, the US executed 13 federal prisoners by lethal injection. Before that, only three people had been executed since 1963.

In a surprising turn of events, Griffin pointed out that Trump’s former Attorney General Bill Barr has also ‘danced’ around the fact that the execution talks weren’t a one-time thing. She brought up an interview between CNN’s Kaitlan Collins and Bill Barr from April, where Collins asked him about the aforementioned discussion of executing a staffer who leaked.
In response, Barr casually revealed that there were many such instances and not just one. Griffin said:
And Bill Barr kind of danced it and said, 'I don't recall that specific instance,' but there were others where we talked about executing people.More under this adMore under this ad
During the interview, Barr himself shared:
I remember [Trump] being very mad about that. I actually don't remember him saying 'executing,' but I wouldn't dispute it.
He went on to explain that Trump would occasionally ‘lose his temper and say things like that’ but ‘I doubt he would've actually carried it out.’ He added:

Meanwhile, Trump's spokesperson Steven Cheung has issued a comment to Newsweek when they asked him to comment on the claims. He said:
