The US election in 2021 was eventful, to say the least. Donald Trump was ousted from office and Joe Biden won. A series of events then unfolded, including citizens storming the Capitol on January 6. Investigations suggest Trump may have been involved.

The Capitol riots
On January 6 2021, US citizens stormed the Capitol in Washington DC. This came after Joe Biden won the presidential election. Many Trump supporters were not pleased by the results and after Trump’s ‘incendiary speech’ where he claimed there was voter fraud and as a result was denied a second term in office.
More under this adMore under this adSoon after, the Capitol was stormed where five people were killed and over 100 police officers were injured as reported by SkyNews. Indeed the Capitol was in session at the time of the riots as they were overseeing the congressional certification of Joe Biden’s win.

The congressional committee is now investigating the attack on the Capitol. The first public hearing took place on 9 June and every US news channel, except Fox News, is covering the proceedings according to the BBC.
Committee chairman Bennie Thompson has decided that former President Donald Trump is personally responsible for the Capitol attack. He told the committee that Trump ‘was trying to stop the peaceful transfer of power’ He said:
