Spider in supermarket banana

A shopper and his family shopped at Tesco’s for their groceries and returned home with their stuff. It was his partner, who has a phobia of spiders, who found the insect crushed between two bananas.

The shopper describes the moment saying,

I heard her scream and then when I came in she showed me.

Tesco’s reaction

Tesco has apologised for the oversight on their part, saying,

We’re sorry that on this extremely rare occasion, a spider appears to have made it through undetected.
In a situation like this, a customer can return the item to one of our stores for a full refund.

The affected family is however not satisfied with Tesco’s response, and have refused to accept Tesco's refund offer because it cannot adequately compensate for how they have been affected.
