This abandoned dog waited for his cruel owners for weeks without realising they dumped him

Salvatore spent two weeks right where his owners left him, hoping for them to come back. They never did. The pooch didn't realise that they intentionally dumped him. The kindhearted neighbours who got extremely concerned about Salvatore called for help.

Simply left behind

Six-year-old Salvatore was a perfect pet - sweet-natured, affectionate, and loyal. According to the neighbours, he was great with his family's children too.

It came as a shock to see that they abandoned him after they decided to move houses.

Tyla reported that the poor pooch spent two weeks outside the empty property in Florida, right where they left him, waiting for his humans to return. The sad and lonely pup never realised they dumped him.

Concerned neighbours had their hearts bleed for Salvatore. So, they got in touch with a local animal shelter and asked for help.

Rescued and loved again

Salvatore was picked up by staff at Everglades Angels Dog Rescue and taken into their care.

The charity commented:

Aside from the sadness in his eyes, Salvatore is a handsome dog. An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language.

According to the shelter, the pooch was ‘very nervous but not aggressive’ when they met him. It took a lot of patience, love, and dedication to get him to understand that his carers wanted to help him.

They added:

Sadly he was still holding out for his family. His family let him down. We will not.

A loving home, at last

As soon as Everglades Angels shared Salvatore's heartbreaking story on its Facebook page, the pup quickly built up a huge following. After spending two months with the rescue centre, Salvatore found his forever home.

The charity commented:

Salvatore waited for weeks for his family, but they never showed. Now, Salvatore has an amazing family to call his own, one that will never abandon or discard him.
