Dumped and trapped
A woman was walking in an area in Stafford, in the West Midlands when she discovered Woody tied up outside a house during the dark hours of the evening. While he had a water and food bowl beside him, they were completely empty and it is not known how long the dog spent outside in the cold without a drink.

The kind-hearted woman who believed Woody got no care whatsoever for at least ‘a couple of days’ couldn't leave the neglected animal alone. She eventually decided to rescue him before contacting the police, BirminghamLive writes.

The Good Samaritan took the pooch ‘to a warm home’, fed him and gave him water.
Still in disbelief over the cruelty of the case, she commented:
How can anyone be so cruel and spiteful to an animal? Don't buy a dog if you can't look after it.More under this adMore under this ad
The rescuer also revealed the content of the handwritten note she discovered at the scene. It suggested Woody was an unwanted dog, and his owner couldn’t find a better way to find him a home than to dump him outside in the dark and cold.
The note read:
Hello! My name is Woody. I am looking for a family. I love children and I am cat friendly. If interested, please give the door a knock.More under this adMore under this ad
The woman claims to have contacted the police but was told to speak to the RSPCA regarding the matter. Thankfully, the pooch was since adopted by her friend who ‘has taken him in for a loving forever home’.
More and more pets lose their home
Woody’s case comes after the RSPCArevealed a stark increase in the number of animals being dumped on the streets, with a 17% rise from 2020 to 2021 and another 24% jump this year.
