McDonald's customer 'violently sick' after staff makes huge mistake with her order

It is not uncommon for fast-food customers to sometimes be served the wrong order, or to end up with tomato or salad which they had distinctly asked the staff to not put into their food. These instances, as annoying as they might be, are not so serious. They can usually be chalked up cooks and servers having a busy day, or being confused about orders etc.

However, if the mistake ends up being life-threatening for the consumer, needless to say, the stakes get much higher. As reported by Wales online, one such mistake led to a McDonald’s customer being hospitalised after taking a bite of her chicken wrap with mayonnaise.

McDonald’s customer served wrong order
Holly Carr, 37, ordered a chicken wrap from McDonald’s. After eating the food she was served, Carr went into an anaphylactic shock. Turns out that the chicken wrap contained mayonnaise, and the customer suffered from a serious egg allergy.
More under this adMore under this adThe customer had made their diet restriction clear to the restaurant, ordering her grilled chicken wrap without mayonnaise. When the food arrived, it even contained a ‘no mayonnaise’ sticker on it indicating it was safe for the customer to eat.
Once she took a bite, she immediately felt something was wrong with her food. Carr states,
It looked like my order was right because the wrap had a 'no mayo' sticker on it. I didn't think twice about checking, but after taking a bite, I immediately tasted the mayonnaise.More under this adMore under this ad

McDonald’s customer had to be hospitalised
The customer thankfully carried their EpiPen with them, and was dining with their family. As soon as they sensed something was wrong, her family sprang into action, calling emergency services for help.

I started to be violently sick and was drifting in and out of consciousness - and in that moment, I felt terrified.
My fiancé called 111 and they instructed him how to use my EpiPen, which saved my life. They sent an ambulance, and I was taken to hospital where they ran some tests and gave me lots of fluids.More under this adMore under this ad
But, thankfully, because I wasn't on my own, and I had a second EpiPen at home, I was swiftly discharged.
The customer has since received a financial settlement from McDonald’s for their grave mistake. But she has been suffering from PTSD due to the incident.
