What is a food recall?

Food items sometimes have to be recalled due to food safety issues. This can be due to the presence of harmful bacteria such as salmonella being found or due to the presence of something else that shouldn’t be in the product such as pieces of plastic or metal. Recalls can also occur if allergy information hasn’t been correctly labelled.
