A shopper at Aldi got the fright of her life, when she opened a can of beans only to be confronted by a nightmarish scene.

With most food and drinks now being mass-produced by giant companies, sometimes quality controls, and food safety could fall by the wayside due to a variety of issues including the scale of production.

Now, as reported by Wales Online, a woman found something this is simultaneously disgusting and scary, inside her canned beans that she purchased from Aldi.

As per the report, an Aldi shopper from Rhondda Cynon Taf tweeted the shocking contents of her can of beans from the supermarket.

Her Tweet read,

So, um… is that a snake in my beans

The photo accompanying her Tweet showed something that looks like the skin of snake floating on top of a half-opened can of beans.

As per the report, when she opened the beans and saw the shocking contents, she was so scared that she could't even bring herself to touch or inspect what the weird floating thing inside the food was. She describes her experience saying,

I almost threw the tin across the room when I opened it up and saw what was inside. I physically couldn't bring myself to touch it. So I poked it with a fork and it all moved at once, after which point I refused to look again.

Aldi's reaction to the find

The customer straightaway took the bean and its contents to Aldi, where they tried to compensate her for the terrible experience with two bottles of wine. The customer states,

So I wrapped it up and took it to Aldi to complain and they gave me two bottles of wine as a goodwill gesture.

As to what the mysterious contents of the can really was, one spokesperson from Aldi has a theory that the weird floating things could arise due to a 'breach in packaging.' Their comment explains,

Whilst we would not be able to explain the exact cause of this, it may have been due to a breach in the packaging which has allowed air to enter and cause the item to perish
