The razor brand Billie wants to break taboos on female facial hair. The brand has chosen to show this in its ads.

Movember was a mainly male movement in which moustaches are neither shaved nor cut. Last movement was an initiative to raise funds for prostate and testicular cancer research. So what does this have to do with women? They too have a right to help in this cancer research!

'Women have moustaches too'

The brand wished to tackle a sensitive subject, that of women's body hair. After a campaign on body hair, Billie razors want to make women feel less ashamed, and give them back their decision-making power. In the commercial, the models are women spotted on Instagram. They chose long ago to stop worrying about their moustaches.

'Our body hair has an important statement to make,' they said. 'The world may not know this, because we've been doing everything we can to hide it all our lives. But the great news is, we do have body hair.' The message is out: 'Do what you want with your own hair.'

An advertisement, a taboo

'So for Movember, we let them grow out, and join the movement, because a moustache is a moustache and ours shouldn't be ignored.' The campaign wants to be kind to women so Billie chose to involve women of all figures and colours. An inclusive and hair liberating ad, we love it!
