Mother left horrified after she discovered blood in her daughter's Burger King order

Chain restaurants sometimes have their fair share of disgusting surprises. For example, one customer discovered a live snail in her McDonald's burger. A young mother from New York, USA, had the displeasure of finding a strange red liquid on her daughter's Burger King menu. Here's what happened.

Her daughter's order was covered in blood

On Friday 26 July 2024, Tiffany Floyd took her 4-year-old daughter to Burger King as a treat. The little girl was over the moon as she started unwrapping her burger and chips, but the ecstasy was short-lived. Indeed, Tiffany discovered a 'red fluid' on the wrapper and inside the burger, which she thought was ketchup. Since her daughter specifically asked for no ketchup, she looked inside her bag. That is when she had a nasty surprise. She told the New York Post:

All I heard was, ‘Mom, I don’t want ketchup,’ so I grabbed her bag, thinking that they messed up our order again, and I looked and there was just blood all over her hamburger, all over the wrapper. I looked inside the bag, there’s blood on her toys, everything.

The cook had cut his hand while preparing their order

After inspection, Tiffany discovered the liquid was in fact blood. Horrified, she asked to speak to the restaurant's manager to settle the affair. The manager explained that the cook had cut his hand while preparing their order, but he had not notified his boss. The manager offered a full refund, but Tiffany was shell-shocked. She rushed to the doctor, to check they had not been infected by the blood, as her daughter had eaten a few of her chips. She had to wait thirty days to be able to see a paediatrician. While the manager explained a cook had been injured, he did not specify who it was, so Tiffany had no way of knowing if he had any health issues that could be transmitted by blood.

The restaurant has issued an official apology, saying:

This incident was the result of a team member in the restaurant who injured his finger, and upon noticing immediately stepped away. We closed the restaurant to retrain all the team members and hired an external company to complete a deep cleaning.
