Starfishes are such beautiful and peaceful creatures of the sea but have you ever wondered how they move around? Watch the video to see this in action!

Zeb Hallock captured a video of a starfish on the move - and it is absolutely disturbing.

The scene was recorded in slow motion in North Carolina, the United States and shows the starfish moving towards the water using hundreds of cilia or small tentacles, proving once and for all that starfish aren't the stationary creatures we usually find.

Did you know that most starfish only move at the rate of 15 centimetres per minute? That's pretty incredible!

In the video, the starfish'sfeet move in a wave and look like they could function as little suction cups. But, actually, they stick to the seafloor via adhesive chemicals.

Incredibly, the starfish is also a bilateral creature similar to spiders and crabs which means it can be considered to have both front legs and back legs!
