After rumours that ITV bosses were considering Devon, Cornwall and even Barry Island as UK locations for Love Island 2021, the Mirror has now reported that the island of Jersey has been secured by producers. It will serve as a back-up location if jetting Islanders off to the usual Majorca villa is impossible due to coronavirus restrictions.

An insider source quoted by the Mirror said:
The Channel Islands get plenty of sunshine so it makes sense to hold Love Island there if we can't get back to Spain. Either way we're going to put out a belting series. Viewers have missed Love Island for the whole of 2020 and they're desperate to have it back. They're going to love what we do, wherever we do it.More under this adMore under this ad

Both Iain Stirling and Laura Whitmore – who are soon to become parents for the first time – are expected to return as the show’s voice-over and presenter respectively. The series has apparently received more applications from prospective Islanders than ever, with producers reportedly keen to recruit some key workers in the mix.
Where is Jersey?
Jersey is an island just off the coast of Normandy in the north of France. Whilst it doesn’t get quite as much sunshine as Majorca (an average of 250 hours in June and July, compared to 350 on the Spanish island), it still has average summer temperatures of a balmy 20 degrees, getting up to 33 degrees on hot days.

Currently, visitors to Jersey from any country – including the UK – are subject to a minimum 10 day self-isolation period with Covid swab tests on the first, fifth and tenth days.
