Queen Consort Camilla to take over this key role of Elizabeth II

Everyone knows of Queen Elizabeth II’s love for animals – especially horses. King Charles III has previously been an amateur Jockey, but it is Queen Consort Camilla who echoes a similar love and adoration for horses as Queen Elizabeth II.

New figurehead

Reportedly, Camilla is set to take over the Queen as the Royal Family's figurehead for horse racing. The Sandringham stud and the royal racing colours—purple body with a gold braid, red sleeves, and velvet black riding hat with gold trim—have been passed down to the King, confirms Express.co.uk.

However, it’s Camilla’s passion for the sport and adoration for the horses that’ll make her the next figurehead. A senior racing source confirmed:

I think now it will be Camilla – she will be the figurehead. The plan has always been that Charles and Camilla would take on the legacy.

Camilla obviously adores horses and is hugely passionate about racing. She really loves it, particularly Cheltenham – the jumps.

I think there’s a pretty clear plan, given the Queen’s passion and love for racehorses.

While another racing source added:

Camilla has a real love of racing, and she will be the person who speaks with the trainers each in the way the Queen had.

Will Charles slim down the horses?

While King Charles has been an amateur jockey, his passion doesn’t lie in it. The Queen’s bloodstock advisor John Warren – who was incredibly close to her – confirmed:

He [Charles] has always followed it, but it has been his mother’s interest so it has been at arm’s length.

He owns a few horses himself, in particular with the Duchess of Cornwall. She is absolutely besotted by racing.

After inheriting all the 50 horses of the Royal stables at present and incurring a loss of £ 1 million a year, King Charles might want to scale back the number of horses. A racing source said:

I don’t think the King will want to keep 40-50 horses with ten trainers. He will want to slim down the operation.
