Was it a deliberate decision?

The announcement of King Charles as the new Captain General may have come at a sensitive time (announcement of Prince Harry’s memoir), but it is certain that it was not an intentional decision.

Rather it was pre-decided and long-planned that the announcement will be made on October 28 on the 358th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Marines. Hence, The Firm could have previously informed Prince Harry of the decision as well.
