Prince Andrew: The National Portrait Gallery to acquire an embarrassing photo of disgraced Duke

As many know, Prince Andrew was stripped of all of his titles and honorary titles by his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth in 2022 following the sexual abuse case against the Duke of York. As a result, Prince Andrew was forced to step away from the public eye.

King Charles has continued to shun his brother from public life, and according to reports, the King is also trying to evict Prince Andrew from his home, the Royal Lodge. However, things could get tricky for the Royal Family as the National Portrait Gallery may be acquiring a disgraceful photo of Prince Andrew.

As reported by Daily Mail, the National Portrait Gallery may soon be acquiring a disgraceful photo of Prince Andrew. Indeed, it has been said that the gallery has been gifted a photo from the Prince’s infamous Newsnight interview, which has been made into a Netflix drama.

According to the tabloid, the photograph was offered by Mark Harrison, who already has photos in the National Portrait Gallery. Royal commentator Margaret Holder explained that having an image of the Newsnight interview on display would be a ‘symbol of his disgrace [and] of his downfall as the son of a monarch, the brother of a monarch and a father’.

A spokesperson for the National Portrait Gallery told Mirror that the photo hasn’t been acquired for the collection but has simply been offered:

The photograph has not been acquired for the Gallery’s Collection. The photograph has been offered to the Gallery as a gift by the photographer and the offer is being considered via our standard acquisitions process.

The photograph is of Prince Andrew as he is walking through Buckingham Palace with Emily Mantis after the infamous interview, where he said ‘that went well didn't it’.

This comes as a TV presenter is facing backlash for suggesting the public ease up on Prince Andrew.

Richard Madeley is facing backlash over Prince Andrew comment

As reported by Mirror, Good Morning Britain presenter, Richard Madeley is the focus of several X users after telling his co-hosts Kwasi Kwarteng and Nells Abbey that maybe the public should ‘lay off’ Prince Andrew.

He said, as per Mirror:

Madely goes on to talk about the Duke of York’s infamous interview, explaining that at the time, Prince Andrew was ‘totally unaware of what he'd just done’.

As expected, many GMB viewers expressed their discontent on X. One unhappy viewer wrote:

Can’t believe Madeley saying is it time to lay off Prince Andrew, cut him a bit of slack!!!! No!! Switched off!

Another added that mainstream media is ‘always trying and justify or make excuses for Prince Andrew’. A third user claimed Madeley was ‘insufferable’.
