Staff at Royal Lodge baffled by Prince Andrew’s finances
As per Express, Prince Andrew’s staff at Royal Lodge are allegedly baffled at how the Duke of York is able to pay for the renovations at the Grade II-listed home. The confusion arises as Prince Andrew has no formal income since he stepped down as a working royal.
As per an article from the BBC in 2022, when Prince Andrew was a full working member of the Firm, he used to receive around £250,000 per year, including the cost of running an office. However, that income stopped after he stepped down in 2019, following his dramatic Newsnight interview.

King Charles is still trying to evict Prince Andrew

For King Charles, forcing Andrew to move to Frogmore solves several problems at once - it sends a message to Harry that, as a private citizen and no longer a working royal he will never be allowed back to Frogmore.More under this adMore under this ad
He also adds that for Prince Andrew, forcing him out of Royal Lodge shows him that he can’t continue to live in the ‘grand style’ he’s used to. He also explains that the ‘grand residence’ of Royal Lodge should go to ‘royals who really matter’:
And, finally, it means that a suitably grand residence can be made ready for the royals who really matter William and Kate. Charles is determined that Royal Lodge is the only residence on the royal estate at Windsor that is big enough and regal enough for his heir.More under this adMore under this ad
Two years ago, Prince William and Princess Kate decided to move away from London, leaving Kensington Palace and moving closer to Windsor. The Royal couple chose Adelaide Cottage as their new home.
As mentioned above, it is believed that King Charles wants his eldest son to have a home fit for his status, meaning the 30-room Grade II-listed building, Royal Lodge. However, Prince Andrew has continuously refused any offers to move out.

Moreover, Frogmore Cottage is located within the Windsor Castle security, meaning the Duke of York won’t have to worry about employing more security if he were to move to Frogmore.
The royal insider told The Times:
The King's kindness is not without limit and there is a very good option for Andrew to move into Frogmore Cottage, recently vacated by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which also has the benefit of being within the Windsor Castle security cordon hence reducing the need for alternative round-the-clock security for Royal Lodge.More under this adMore under this ad
