Meghan Markle’s court battle with half-sister Samantha is not over yet

Meghan Markle has a complicated relationship with her family. Estranged from all of them apart from her mother, Doria. Meghan and Samantha share a father, Thomas Markle. However, the half-sisters haven’t spoken to one another in years.

Meghan has claimed that Samantha only started to go by their father’s name, Markle when Meghan started dating Prince Harry in 2018. Samantha has denied this claim.

In March 2022, Samantha Markle sued her half-sister for defamation. Indeed Samantha claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah in 2021 had caused her to receive hate from the world. It seems that Samantha is suing Meghan again.

Samantha Markle lost the first case against Meghan

It has been revealed that the lawsuit Samantha Markle brought against Meghan Markle was dismissed by the judge. Samantha had sued Meghan for defamation based on the biography of Meghan and Prince Harry Finding Freedom and for the couple’s interview with Oprah.

According to BuzzFeed, Samantha’s case was dismissed, first for the biography, as it wasn’t written by Prince Harry or Meghan, there are no grounds for pursuit. For Prince Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah, the judge dismissed without prejudice but gave Samantha and her lawyers 14 days to make changes to the complaint.

Samantha Markle is suing Meghan again

As Samantha Markle’s previous lawsuit fell short, she is now trying to sue Meghan for her and her husband’s Netflix documentary, Harry and Meghan.

Samantha’s new claim is that Meghan and Prince Harry’s Netflix docuseries spread ‘malicious, hurtful, and damaging lies’ about her and ‘caused substantial, irreparable prejudice, injury, and harm to [Markle’s] reputation… [causing] her great anxiety and emotional distress.’

Samantha is asking for compensatory and punitive damages from Meghan as well as court costs.
