King Charles III has an uncanny resemblance to his great-grandmother on his father’s side. But he isn’t the only Royal to have a historic doppelganger.

Photos have emerged comparing the newly appointed King and his paternal great-grandmother, showing their uncanny resemblance.

King Charles III and Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine

King Charles III was born on 14th November 1948 at Buckingham Palace. MyLondon reports that the King’s prominent ears are subject to a long-running joke in the family. Supposedly, the Queen even mocked the then-Prince’s ears when Prince William was born.

However, King Charles seems to be the dead spit of another royal. MyLondonpoints out that the King resembles his paternal great-grandmother, Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine.

Born in 1863 at Windsor Castle, Princess Victoria was the granddaughter of Queen Victoria. The Princess later married Prince Louis of Battenberg. They had four children together, including Princess Alice, Prince Philip’s mother.

During World War I, the Battenberg family abandoned their German-sounding name for a more British-sounding one: Mountbatten. It is the result of translating their name from German to English.

King Charles III and King Edward VII

It has also been pointed out that King Charles resembles his great-great-grandfather, King Edward VII.

Born in 1841, King Edward was the second child and oldest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

But King Charles's resemblance to King Edward isn’t purely physical. Both kings had to wait decades before ascending the throne.
