It is rumoured that King Charles has one habit that many in his household, including Queen Camilla do not appreciate.

King Charles, just like anyone else has habits that may get on other people’s nerves. We have previously talked about the King’s ‘unusual’ breakfast habit but this one habit could irritate some people.

It is said that Queen Camilla finds one of King Charles’s habits slightly annoying as she likes things a different way to her husband. Depending on the time of year, King Charles’ habit isn’t that annoying, but in the winter it is bound to cause arguments.

King Charles likes a cold home

Royal biographer Robert Hardman has claimed that King Charles enjoys a cold home and will open the windows to let in the air even in the winter. This has reportedly caused ‘quite a few battles’ within the royal household.

This is because Queen Camilla allegedly enjoys a ‘warm and cosy’ home according to Hardam. Moreover, it is said that the household staff are ‘distressed’ by the cold conditions.

Robert Hardman told The Standard:

If you ever wander around the royal buildings and are wondering where the King is, look for the flapping curtains.

King Charles has previously turned the heating down

According to Mirror, King Charles has previously turned down the heating in his home to cut down on costs. In 2023, a source claimed that the King had turned down the heating in the palace pool.

A source told The Times:

A few people using the pool have noticed that the temperature of the water has dropped, and it is quite a bit cooler than it used to be. They have been told the King has had the heating turned down.

King Charles is known for being an environmentalist and has done a few things to help the environment. His Majesty has installed solar panels at Clarence House and his country residence Highgrove, in Gloucestershire.

He also uses wastewater at Highgrove to water the plants and flowers in his gardens. King Charles has one a day a week where he eats a vegan meal. Finally, the King is notorious for turning lights off in his home when the room is not in use, something he has ingrained into his children, Prince William and Prince Harry.
