King Charles giving up one of his most beloved possessions worth £1.2 M

The Royal Family has a number of jewels, crowns and properties. In fact, King Charles has so many properties that he has to choose which to live in as Monarch since he allegedly doesn’t want to live at Buckingham Palace.

King Charles has a property in Wales which he is particularly fond of. However, the King has now decided to give up said property since becoming Monarch as he can no longer appreciate it the same way as when he was Prince of Wales.

The home King Charles is about to give up is in Carmarthenshire, Wales and was bought in 2007 for the King.

King Charles’s Welsh home is worth £1.2 million

As reported by BBC, the Duchy of Cornwall had brought then-Prince Charles the Llwynywermod estate in Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, Wales for £1.2 M in 2007.

The home used to be a coach house but was transformed into a three-bedroom house on the grounds of a ruined mansion. It overlooks an 18th-century country park and 40 acres of woodland.

Then-Prince Charles spend a lot of time in the Welsh home when he went on official visits with his wife, Camilla. In 2008, the home underwent renovations.

King Charles has decided to give up the home

When Charles became King, the title of Prince of Wales was passed down to his son, Prince William. As a result, King Charles has been paying rent for the Welsh property, as reported by The Telegraph.

However, Buckingham Palace has now confirmed that the King will not be renewing the lease when it finishes at the end of the summer. Royal sources told The Telegraph that King Charles is still very ‘passionate’ about Wales but felt it was necessary to give up his property as it was ‘unlikely’ he would be able to use it as much as when he was Prince of Wales.

A spokesperson for the Prince of Wales revealed that he has no plans to have a home in Wales, and would rather stay in hotels in order to help out the local economy, as reported by The Telegraph.
