Indeed many praise Princess Kate’s outfits on her Royal outings. She is often referred to as elegant and graceful in all that she does. However, it would seem that the Princess of Wales broke Royal protocol over the Easter weekend.

Princess Kate broke Royal protocol
While the Queen was alive, the Royal Family had strict rules and protocols to follow. Many of them are related to looking presentable during Royal engagements. This includes having sleek hair (no messy buns or ponytails), closed-toe shoes, no jeans and so on.

For the Easter Sunday service a St George’s Chapel in Windsor, Princess Kate wore a blue Catherine coat with a matching pill-box hat by Lock & Co. To finish off the look, the Princess of Wales wore a deep red nail varnish, which is quite a surprise.

Before Queen Elizabeth passed, it was believed that she wasn’t a fan of nail varnish and was never seen with any bright colours. If the late Queen did wear nail varnish, it was often a light nude colour.
According to Mirror, the shade ‘Ballet Slippers’ by Essie was her personal favourite. Since the late Queen didn’t like nail varnish, the other women in the family had to abide by the same ‘rule’ and wear nude colours.

Has King Charles relaxed the nail varnish rule?
As mentioned before, it seems that King Charles is breaking away from tradition, even for Easter when he allegedly broke one of his late mother’s traditions.
The Duchess of Edinburgh, Sohpie, was in New York for a four-day tour during the month of March. During her tour, Sophie was also seen sporting a deep red nail varnish colour.
