Euphoria has been renewed for a third season. Zendaya is one of the more prominent stars of the show as she is also the narrator.

Zendaya’s role was so popular that she was awarded two Emmys. Now that season three is on its way, Zendaya has been given a raise. According to Matthew Belloni at Puck, the actress earns $1 million per episode of Euphoria.

There is a high chance that Zendaya’s paycheck is the highest among her co-stars. However, despite the immense amount of money, it’s not the same as it used to be.

Actors aren’t paid like before

Among the first to get paid $1m for episodes of a series was the cast of Friends during the last three seasons. However, even though Zendaya is being paid the same as the Friends cast was in the early 2000s, her paycheck is technically less due to today’s inflation.

Zendaya’s co-star Sydney Sweeney highlighted the disparity between actors’ paychecks today and before. She told The Hollywood Reporter:

They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals

The issue with streaming platforms is that actors don't get a long-term income from their TV shows.

The established stars still get paid, but I have to give five percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, three percent or something like that to my business manager.

I have to pay my publicist every month, and that’s more than my mortgage.
