‘Romantic love is a myth’

In her latest interview, Emma Thompson revealed that she doesn’t really believe that ‘romantic love’ exists and that it can be ‘quite dangerous.’ On the Radio Times podcast, she said:

We really do have to take [romantic love] with a massive pinch of salt.

Emma Thompson’s love life

Emma Thompson has been married to her Sense and Sensibility co-star Greg Wise for 20 years. However, the Love Actually star hasn’t always had a successful love life.

Thompson was previously married to Belfast star, Kenneth Branagh from 1989 to 1995. Their marriage ended after Branagh cheated with fellow actress Helena Bonham Carter in 1994.

Thompson revealed to The Telegraph that she drew on her own experience for the iconic scene in Love Actually where she is crying in her bedroom on Christmas Eve.
