Jack Keating on how having a baby changed his life

Speaking to Goss.ie, the 24-year-old revealed that it was a ‘big shock’ for him and his family to know he was going to be a father. Sharing that his life has changed ‘massively’ after his baby girl Maya’s birth, he said:

It’s changed massively in the best way. Obviously, it was a big shock, it wasn’t part of the plan. But the past few months have been amazing.

Maya is five and a half months old now, and that time has absolutely flown by. But yeah my life has definitely changed, I’m not the most important person anymore, my priorities have changed.

You have to start thinking about the future a lot more and securing yourself. But it’s been amazing, I’m loving every minute of it.

Jack is not romantically involved with the mother of his child so he decided to keep the news private. He said:

I just wanted to keep it private for her and for Maya’s sake as well and to wait for the right time to come out and release the news.

Jack added that ever since having Maya he has become more responsible and thinks about securing the future a lot more than before.

Jack Keating on co-parenting with the mother

On being asked, how his experience has been with navigating co-parenting with the mother - ex-artist Keely Iqbal. Maya-Ann is named after Keely’s late mum Ann and mostly stays with her as she’s still breastfeeding.

However, Jack is a very devoted father and tries to see Maya as much as possible. Talking about co-parenting, he said:

It’s been great so far. Everyone has their ups and downs but it’s great, we get on well. She lives up in Birmingham at the moment, and I’m in London.

So I get up to see Maya as much as possible, which is lovely. She’s finishing breastfeeding soon as well which is going to be great because I’ll be able to spend a bit more time with her.

I’ll get to have her over for weekends which I’m really excited for.

Jack revealed his baby girl will soon get a passport and he’ll be able to fly her to Ireland so that his family can spend time with her as well.
