Laura Whitmore took to Instagram on Friday morning to confirm the news that she and Iain have welcomed their daughter to the world. Sharing a photograph of herself holding her newborn daughter to her chest in a papoose, she wrote simply:

Laura instantly received floods of congratulations from fans and fellow celebs alike, with Emma Weymouth, Jessie Ware and Davina McCall among the first to comment. Stacey Dooley, who stood in for Laura on her radio show last weekend, showed her support with a single heart emoji.

Laura and Iain have not yet revealed what they have named their first child but Laura previously revealed in her book that they were expecting a baby girl, writing:

Laura Whitmore gives birth
The news that Laura had given birth was broken in tabloids on Thursday with the publication of paparazzi pictures showing Laura and Iain out for a walk with their baby daughter. The couple were spotted getting coffee and putting their daughter in the car to head home.
On Thursday, Laura liked a tweet slamming the tabloids for leaking the news before she had announced it. The tweet read:
