Former President Donald Trump was found guilty of all 34 felony charges against him in the hush money trial. Following the verdict, Trump's website for donations completely crashed, here's why.

Donald Trump was the President of the United States from 2017 to 2021. Trump was best known for wanting to build a wall between the US and Mexico and wanted to ‘make America great again’.

In 2021, Trump lost the presidential election to Joe Biden, who recently shared his joint tax returns with his wife. At the time of the election results, Donald Trump had claimed that the election had been rigged. Trump supporters then stormed the Capitol.

Recently, the former President was in court for a hush money trial, for which he was found guilty on all 34 felony counts. As per Daily Mail, Trump, who claimed the FBI planned to assassinate him, is to be sentenced on June 11. Amid his campaigning, Trump set up a website for donations, however, shortly after he was found guilty, the website crashed.

Donald Trump’s hush money case

As per The Independent, former President Donald Trump was found guilty on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. The trial was linked to an election conspiracy, which involved covering up a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels, an adult film star, during the 2016 presidential election campaign.

Donald Trump, who has made some bizarre comments about his daughters, is the first US president to be convicted of a crime, as per BBC. Throughout the trial, Trump repeatedly claimed that it was rigged and politically motivated.

As reported by BBC, Donald Trump is still facing several other charges in three separate criminal cases, which includes a Georgia case, where he has been accused of ‘conspiring to overturn his narrow defeat by President Joe Biden in the state during the 2020 election’. This case is being appealed.

Moreover, in a case in Florida, Trump is facing a federal case over his alleged ‘mishandling of classified documents’. Currently, the trial has been postponed indefinitely.

Donald Trump has a campaign website

As many know, Donald Trump is running for President once again. The businessman has set up a campaign website, with the following statement:

On the home page of the campaign site, Trump claims that the American Way of Life is ‘under attack’ and he plans to take back the country from ‘the corrupt Washington establishment’ while returning the ‘power’ to the people.

Through the website, people can buy ‘Trump merch’ from sunhats with ‘Make America Great Again’ on them to mugs with Trump’s mugshot on them with ‘Never surrender!’ on them. Trump supporters can also buy T-shirts and drink coolers.

Moreover, supporters can donate various amounts. As per the MAGA site, there are incentives for people to donate. For the $20.24 donation, it says:

While for the $47 donation, it says:

Donate this amount if you think Donald J. Trump is the greatest president of all time!

Supporters can donate $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or $3,300 at a simple click of a button or choose their own amount with the ‘other’ option. At the bottom of the donation options, it explains that the donations will ‘benefit Trump National Committee JFC'.

There is also a box supporters can check if they would like to ‘cover the processing fee’, which means that ‘100%’ of their donation goes to the Trump National Committee JFC.

Moreover, as you scroll through the campaign website, there are several statements claiming that the trial was rigged:

There are then two options to click, either ‘Yes, count me in!’ or ‘No, donate once’.

Donald Trump’s campaign website crashed

As mentioned above, shortly after Donald Trump was found guilty on all 34 felony counts, he received so many donations on his campaign website that supporters caused it to crash. As per New York Times, a technical issue occurred on the site due to the number of people trying to donate in the aftermath of Trump’s verdict.

The Trump campaign said in a statement on social media:

So many Americans were moved to donate to President Trump’s campaign that the WinRed pages went down.

A spokesperson for the campaign added, as per Daily Mail:

Since the initial crash, the website is up an running again. Speaking about the sheer amount of people donating to Trump, Piers Morgan said that he believes Trump could be back in office. He wrote on X:

According to The Independent, Donald Trump’s campaign website has received $141 million in the month of May. It has been reported that within the first 24 hours after Trump was found guilty, the campaign received $53 million in donations.
