How much did Joe and Jill Biden earn in 2023?
As reported by CNN, Joe and Jill Biden earned $619,976 in 2023, as per their joint tax return document, released by The White House on Monday, May 13 - which is the deadline for Americans to file their taxes.
The White House also released the tax returns for Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff ($450,299) as Biden believes that those in the White House should be ‘open and honest’ with their people.

It is believed that the statement was a subtle dig at Donald Trump, who refused to release his tax returns while he was President.

According to CNN, most of Joe Biden’s money comes from his presidential salary, which sits at $400,000 with pensions. For Jill Biden, a large chunk of her money comes from her community college educator job, with a salary of $85,985 - we will dive deeper into her career later.
Moreover, the tax return revealed that the couple paid $146,629 in federal income tax in 2023, meaning their federal income tax rate is 23.7%. It is also noted that the couple gave $20,477 to 17 different charities throughout the previous year.

Other charities the couple donated to include the Fraternal Order of Police, a Wilmington fire station and St. Joseph on the Brandywine, as per CNN.
CNN explains that the couple’s earnings have increased compared to 2022. Indeed, they earned $579,514 in 2022, which is less than what the couple earned in 2021 and 2020 with an income of $610,702 and $607,336 respectively.
