Why not prepare a meal of asparagus, artichokes and figs to get you in the mood next date night?

Named after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of beauty and sexual love, aphrodisiacs are substances linked to increased arousal, libido and sexual pleasure. One of the most documented aphrodisiacs is none other than the asparagus! Recommended by the Karma Sutra itself, according to Cosmopolitan magazine, asparagus’s ability to get you in the mood is two-fold. Firstly, its phallic shape is hard to ignore! Secondly, it is a great source of Vitamin E, known for its skincare benefits and potassium, which helps to relax blood vessels and improve blood and oxygen flow to the genitals.

Figs

Because of their resemblance to the vulva, figs are naturally seductive and are second only to the strawberry in terms of sexiest fruit. Filled with seeds, figs are also often used as a symbol of fertility. However, from a scientific standpoint, PBS notes that figs can be regarded as sexual stimulants thanks to their rich source of amino acids, antioxidants and potassium, which improve libido and sexual stamina.

Since ancient times, artichokes have been revered as potent aphrodisiacs. As flowers, artichokes are themselves the sexual organ of plants, aiding their erotic reputation. Rich in potassium, artichokes benefit the cardiovascular system, helping to stimulate blood flow, which we think might be useful... You can also enjoy the sensuality of handling your food while you eat artichokes, stripping back their tender leaves to reveal the juicy hearts!
