Optical illusion: What you see depends on the time of year

Optical illusions are always fun to look at. One person may see something completely different than someone else.There is one optical illusion that is very interesting as the person looking at it will see something different depending on the time of year they look at it. Experts have published a study in the journal Perceptual and Motor Skills. They took a group of 265 subjects on Easter and 276 in October here’s what they discovered.

Do you see a duck or a rabbit?

For all the people who looked at the ‘duck or bunny’ illusion in Easter were far more likely to see a rabbit. Most of the people who looked at the illusion in October saw a duck more than a rabbit.

The researchers said:

This biasing effect of expectancy upon perception was observed for young children (2 to 10 years) as well as for older subjects (11 to 93 years),

Another study asked subjects how easily they could see both a duck and a rabbit. This study showed that those who could easily flip between seeing both creatures were more creative.

Most optical illusions are based on biases and associations, meaning not everyone will see the same thing. Other factors come into play as well when looking at optical illusions such as cataracts, glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy, which are all eye-related issues.
