Memory loss among young people is not as uncommon as many would like to believe.

While most people assume that older adults are the only ones who experience memory loss, the problem is fairly common among young adults too. Causes

Although it is true that memory loss is more common among older people, certain factors can account for young people struggling with this issue as well. Many medical problems can cause memory loss or other dementia-like symptoms. Most of these conditions can be treated. Mayo Clinic suggests that your doctor can screen you for conditions that cause reversible memory impairment. Some of the causes of reversible memory loss include:

  • Drugs and alcohol
  • Stress and fatigue
  • Vitamin deficiencies caused by poor diet
  • Depression and hormonal changes
