Within just days of taking the erectile dysfunction drug, her breathing improved and the level of oxygen she needed dropped by half.

A nurse, who spent a month and a half in coma after testing positive for Covid, had her life saved after she was given Viagra. She was 72 hours from having her ventilator turned off when the option to use the drug came up.

Monica Almeida had both vaccines, but had to be rushed to the hospital after testing positive for the virus. She was sent straight to the resuscitation room, where her condition deteriorated fast, reports The Sun.

Almeida, 37-year-old, was three days away from having her ventilator turned off when quick-thinking doctors decided to give her a large dose of the drug associated with erectile dysfunction.

Shortly after, her breathing improved, and her oxygen requirement was halved. The specialist respiratory nurse from Gainsborough, Lincolnshire told the paper:

A Christmas Miracle

Almeida, mum of two, made it home in time for Christmas after spending almost two months in the hospital.

She is grateful to the staff at Lincoln County Hospital, saving her life in a most unlikely way. She said:

I had a little joke with the consultant after I came round because I knew him. He told me it was the Viagra, I laughed and thought he was joking, but he said ‘no, really, you’ve had a large dose of Viagra. It was my little Christmas miracle.

She is making steady recovery, but doctors told her that if she had not been double-jabbed, she would have died.
