It’s a room that’s meant to help you keep clean, and yet your bathroom is full of dirty places that are teeming with bacteria! According to a study, 46% of us clean our toilets every 2 weeks or longer, which is worrying considering that our bathrooms are breeding grounds for all sorts of harmful bacteria.

What would you do if someone told you that your bathroom, the room in which you clean yourself, is actually a very dirty place?

As this room gets humid quite often, microbes have a lot of places to grow. It all starts with what you use to wash yourself: washcloths and body puffs. According to Le Parisien, a French newspaper, these items that we use to wash ourselves contain bacteria, yeast and mould, a lovely cocktail that can lead to you getting an infection. To avoid this, replace these items regularly, rinse them well and let them dry in-between uses.

Clean everything regularly

Another breeding ground for bacteria in this same area is the shower curtain. If it’s too long or stays folded, it won’t dry very well and fungus will start growing. Again, don’t be afraid to change it from time to time. Take the time to shorten it if you need to and remember to pull it down after every shower so that the creases can dry

It’s not much cleaner around your sink either. For example, the glass that you keep your toothbrushes in is far from innocent, as germs run riot there. Like the others, it should be washed regularly, but using just a sponge isn’t enough. According to Le Parisien, the glass should be put in the dishwasher or soaked for at least 20 minutes in soapy water to get rid of the bacteria.
