Since January 2020, the Coronavirus has been spreading into other countries since it left China. There have been nine reported cases of the Coronavirus in the UK, but so far no deaths have been recorded. In China, there have been around 89,000 confirmed cases and almost 3,000 deaths.

In order to limit the spread of this dangerous virus, doctors have been strongly advised people to take certain health precautions into consideration such as regularly washing your hands with soap but also disinfecting your hands using a hydroalcoholic gel.

Are you one of the many people who carry antibacterial gel in their handbags to clean their hands and get rid of microbes? Well, that's convenient. Made with alcohol, products like this are great for quickly disinfecting your hands and removing as much bacteria as possible wherever you are. However, let’s not forget that using gels like this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t also be washing your hands. Hydroalcoholic gels like this should merely be used as well as regularly washing your hands.
But what if you could make your own at home? Antibacterial gels are among the many products that we use on a daily basis because they are practical and allow us to clean our hands when we’re in public and don’t necessarily have access to a sink. The problem is that these convenient little bottles are an added cost and are often out of stock due times when virus’ are at their highest. So, here is how you can make your own at home to save money and give you more peace of mind! You’ll see, it’s so easy!

- Essential lavender oil
- A bowl
- A container
- Aloe vera gel
- 90% proof rubbing alcohol
- Vegetable oil
How to make it:
- 1/ In a bowl, mix together the aloe vera and the vegetable oil.
- 2/ Then add the 90% proof alcohol and mix everything.
- 3/ Add a few drops of the essential oil (you can use any kind of essential oil, but we went for lavender)
- 4/ Stir everything together and pour the finished mixture in a container.
And there you have it!
And if you fancy making your own soap, that’s very easy as well! Here’s how:
What you will need:
- Pure glycerin
- A colouring agent or dye
- Essential oils
- A silicone mould
How to make it:
- 1/ Melt the glycerin in a pan.
- 2/ Add the colouring agent of your choice as well as your choice of essential oil.
- 3/ Pour the mixture into the silicone mould.
- 4/ Decorate the soap however you like and then add a few steps of bloom.
- 5/ Chill the mixture in the fridge for 24 hours fro that the soap can solidify.
- 6/ Remove the soap from the mould and it’s ready to use!
