When you browse the internet on your phone or use apps, the web browsers on these devices store bits of information about your online activities to give you speedier experience when you use them in the future, Business Insider writes. These bits of information which might no longer be beneficial to you, pile up with time, slowing down the performance of the device.

Cache clearing

There are quick and simple steps you can take to clear the cache on your phone, according to the business news outlet.

  1. First, you need to open the Chrome app on your phone. When you tap on the three-dot icon at the top right, you will be presented with a dropdown menu.
  2. You will find ‘history’ in the options. Tap it and select ‘Clear browsing data’.
  3. You can choose the time period for which you would like to delete, by using the Time Range dropdown menu.
  4. You can now tap on ‘cached images and files after which you click on clear data.

In case you are wondering how often you should clear the cache on your phone, the Business Insider suggests doing it periodically.

If you find you're routinely clearing cache to free up space, you may consider removing unused apps or archiving stored video and photos in the cloud. Installing a high volume microSD card is another option to address phone storage needs.
