For all you Christmas-lovers, we’ve got some good news. Waitrose is launching the perfect entrée that will spruce up your festive spread and take it to the next level. What is it? A delicious baked Camembert and Garlic Doughball Wreath!

The perfect Christmas snack

Edible wreaths are a great idea, but this one is a game changer! It’s designed to be a centrepiece that will round up guests, get them talking, and fill up their stomachs—all at the same time! Waitrose announced the launch on their website and described the dish as:

A rich baking Camembert and tear and share doughball wreath glazed with olive oil, parsley and garlic, with a caramelised red onion and sherry vinegar chutney.

That sounds so good that Christmas seems far too long to taste a divine dish like that, but unfortunately wait we must. They’re launching the edible wreath closer to the festive season at a cost of £6.50 for 675g.

How to make your own

We know that Waitrose’s Baked Camembert and Garlic Doughball Wreath will be to die for, but while you’re waiting you should try making it for yourself! Here is a simple recipe British chef, Richard Philips shared with BBC:

Ingredients

To prepare his version of baked camembert with garlic bread you’ll need one whole box of camembert, one garlic clove, some fresh thyme and a teaspoon of olive oil.

For the garlic bread you need one small ciabatta loaf, a tablespoon of olive oil, and one garlic clove that has been peeled.

Method

First preheat the oven to 200°C.

Start by removing any plastic packaging from the camembert and put the cheese back in the box—do not close the lid. Poke small holes in several places of the cheese and insert pieces of chopped garlic and sprigs of thyme into it. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and place the box on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes till the centre of the cheese is melted.

Then take your ciabatta loaf, slice in half and drizzle with olive oil. Toast the cut-side on a hot pan until golden brown and then rub it with the peeled garlic clove.

And there you have it, aromatic melted camembert to dip your toasted garlic bread into.
