To get her message across, the young woman decided to spend a whole day at college without wearing any protection during her period. Irene then walked around in a grey leggings with a big bloodstain. While she could not avoid criticism, mockery and stares, she did not care and even posted pictures on instagram, spreading her legs.

Far from wanting to go viral, Irene explains her gesture was a glimpse of what would happen women decided not to pay out of their own pocket for their sanitary products.
